In the morning session of this workshop we’ll be looking at the subject of exposure and its perceived technicalities and common pitfalls.
The pitfalls of exposure are real enough, but once you understand them your eye will be able to quickly appraise almost any situation enabling you to make rapid adjustments to your camera controls that will free your mind to concentrate on the important things like composition.

We’ll be looking at using and assessing natural light at all times of day and under common weather conditions, and the use of flash to help lift the image under ‘flat’ lighting conditions, and ‘fill’ shadows under high contrast full sun conditions.
Exposure compensation is vital when photographing dark subjects against light backgrounds or vice versa – situations that occur very commonly in our day to day photographic lives – and failure to compensate correctly will always lead to disappointment.

So as our last topic before lunch we’ll look closely at exposure compensation in detail, and we’ll discover how to put ourselves in positions where we need to use as little of it as necessary.
In the afternoon session we’ll be looking at the importance of shooting RAW rather than JPEG and the improvements that we will see in our images once we begin our all-important post processing work.
In the final part of the workshop we’ll begin to look at basic image workflow, converting our precious RAW images into full resolution TIFF files for archiving and then resizing and compressing images for display on either your PC screen or the web.
There will be plenty of time throughout the day for any questions you have, in fact your questions are an integral part of the workshop so please feel free to “ask away”, and if you have questions that are not covered during the workshop PLEASE feel free to ask during the coffee and lunch breaks, or after the course has concluded for the day.
It is our sole endeavour to deliver to you the best and most concise information we can to enable you to “get out there” and produce the images YOU WANT.
Looking forward to seeing you on the course!
